If anyone's curious, the evidence for the new hardware is that new system calls were added to the OS but were stubbed out (returning a "not implemented" error code) on the current Switch firmware. I believe the number added was 40 (0x80 total before, 0xC0 now).
It's not impossible in theory for new syscalls to be added to the current Switch, but not likely this many of them, this late in its life, and with none of them actually being implemented so far. So it's a reasonable conclusion that these will be utilized by a new Switch model that shares the firmware, but has different hardware and kernel functions exposed through the new syscalls.
